The three-day Disaster Risk Management learning programme is an elective programme that is included in the National Certificate: Generic Management qualification (US 59201) which has been divided into specialisation. The training material has been specifically aligned to the facilities management disaster risk management practices and facilities managers and health and safety management staff are required to have a disaster risk management plan in place to pre-empt any disaster that puts the facility, its occupants and visitors at risk.
Upon successful completion the delegate will be able to:
Use communication and information management systems
Create awareness and promote a culture of risk avoidance through advocacy activities
Develop and implement disaster risk reduction plans
Establish and co-ordinate forums for disaster risk management in a specific environment
Implement disaster risk management principles in response, recovery and rehabilitation
Conduct disaster risk assessment
Develop and manage funding mechanisms for disaster risk management
Interpret and integrate disaster risk management theory into programmes and activities according to the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Framework.
For delegates to earn the SSETA credits, they will be required to complete both formative and summative assessments which forms part of a post training work-based Portfolio of Evidence (POE) which is evaluated by an assessor and moderator.
Upon successful completion of the POE, the SSETA, the assuring body, will register the delegate’s results on the National Learners’ Record Database. These results remain a lifelong achievement for all delegates to further their careers.
SAFMA CPD points will be awarded to registered SAFMA members on presentation of their Certificate of Attendance.
